Japanese Arts & Culture from the Centre of Utrecht
Would you like to follow Japanese Lessons in Utrecht? At Japan Fans, we offer free Japanese lessons via our Study Group. Moreover, we know a wide range of language teachers that can help you to learn Japanese (for Dutch and English speakers). Ganbatte!
Learning Japanese is not easy, but as the proverb goes: nana korobi ya oki (七転び八起き) – “stumble seven times, get back up eight!” If you don’t try, you will have no chance to succeed. And the Japanese have a proverb for that as well: Koketsu ni hairazunba koji o ezu (虎穴に入らずんば虎子を得ず). Translation: “If you do not enter the tiger’s cave, you will not catch its cub”. So, what are you waiting for?
Learn Japanese for free via our Study Group
First and foremost, we offer free Japanese lessons via our weekly Japanese Study Group in the Neude Library in the centre of Utrecht. The Japanese lessons are taught by Yuko Kabashima, a native speaker with a teaching qualification (specifically for Japanese to non-native speakers) and years of experience. Participation is free of charge.
Editorial note: the lessons have been relocated to Bibliotheek Leidse Rijn.
One on one Japanese Lessons in Utrecht
Because we get so many questions about where in Utrecht you can take individual (one on one) Japanese language classes (from English and from Dutch), we have created this page: “Learn Japanese in Utrecht“. This way you can contact the teachers directly, without intermediaries.
(In response to a question about this: Japan Fans is a community which exists to make connections and help each other, so we are absolutely not going to make any commissions.)
Some exercises for learning Japanese can also be found via our Instagram , Twitter and Facebook group. If you like to learn Japanese, you might also like our Utrecht Haiku Group and/or our Japanese Book Club.
