Origami Workshops

Last Friday, the Japan Fans Utrecht hosted two origami workshops at De Wilg, for their summer festival. Here’s a recap of that pleasant afternoon!

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and warmth as participants gathered to create beautiful origami creations, including hearts, flowers, and birds. These pieces will be combined to form a grand artwork that will adorn the living room of De Wilg.

Beyond the artistry, we noticed how the origami workshops – both at De Wilg as on Kodomo no Hi – fostered a sense of community and togetherness. People from different backgrounds and skill levels came together, united by their love for Japanese culture and the desire to learn and connect. Laughter echoed throughout the room as friendships formed and conversations flowed effortlessly.

Origami, as an art form, has the unique ability to bring people together and create lasting bonds. In this workshop, it served as a bridge, allowing individuals to share their passion, exchange techniques, and inspire one another. The sense of camaraderaderie and support was palpable, as participants cheered each other on, celebrated their successes, and offered assistance when needed. It was a reminder of the power of shared experiences and the strength of a community united by a common interest.

Origami Workshops

As we bid farewell to the origami workshop at De Wilg, we carry with us the memories of laughter, creativity, and the connections forged. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who attended and contributed to the warm and inclusive atmosphere. Your presence and enthusiasm made the workshop a resounding success!

Looking to the future, we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to continue sharing the art of origami with even more individuals. May the magic of origami continue to inspire us, nurture our spirits, and remind us of the beauty that can be created when we come together as a community.

Future dreams…

As we fondly look back on the origami workshop at De Wilg‘s Summer Festival, we cannot help but dream of future endeavors. Japan Fans Utrecht aspires to establish its own Japanese Cultural Center, a dedicated space where the enchanting world of Japanese art and culture can flourish.

In this envisioned Japanese Cultural Center, creative workshops and meetups would be a cornerstone of our activities. We would provide a welcoming environment for individuals of all ages and skill levels to immerse themselves in the intricate folds of origami. From traditional designs to contemporary creations, participants would have the opportunity to explore the vast spectrum of this captivating art form.

The Japanese Cultural Center would become a hub of creativity, offering not only workshops but also exhibitions, demonstrations, and lectures on various aspects of Japanese culture. Through these diverse offerings, we aim to deepen the understanding and appreciation of Japan’s rich heritage, fostering wabi-sabi, cross-cultural connections, friendship and inspiration.

We left the place more organized than we found it. 😅
